Symptomatic Bipartite Medial Cuneiform: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
A literature search revealed only three case reports of treatment for a symptomatic bipartite medial cuneiform [1,2,5]. Azurza and Sakellarious reported a case of a 34 year old male Soldier with a three year history of symptomatic bipartition following a soccer injury. Successful treatment consisted of arthrodesis [1]. Chiodo and Parentis reported a case of a 32 year old female Olympic marathon runner with a medial to lateral partition. Successful treatment consisted of excision of the medial segment [2]. Bismil and Foster reported a case of a 23 year old male professional rugby player who became symptomatic following a rugby injury. Successful treatment consisted of a single injection of 40mg of methylprednisolone into the bipartition [5].

Magnetic resonance imaging findings in bipartite medial cuneiform – a potential pitfall in diagnosis of midfoot injuries: a case series
INTRODUCTION The bipartite medial cuneiform is an uncommon developmental osseous variant in the midfoot. To our knowledge, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) characteristics of a non-symptomatic bipartite medial cuneiform have not been described in the orthopaedic literature. It is important for orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons, musculoskeletal radiologists, and for podiatrists to identify thi...

Objective. To present a unique case report of a Lisfranc fracture in a patient with a bipartite medial cuneiform and to evaluate the prevalence of the bipartite medial cuneiform in a retrospective review of 1000 magnetic resonance (MR) imaging studies of the foot. Materials and Methods. Case report followed by a retrospective review of 1000 MR imaging studies of the foot for the presence or abs...
متن کاملFirst evidence of a bipartite medial cuneiform in the hominin fossil record: a case report from the Early Pleistocene site of Dmanisi.
A medial cuneiform exhibiting complete bipartition was discovered at the Early Pleistocene site of Dmanisi, Georgia. The specimen is the oldest known instance of this anatomical variant in the hominin fossil record. Here we compare developmental variation of the medial cuneiform in fossil hominins, extant humans and great apes, and discuss potential implications of bipartition for hominin foot ...
متن کاملDorsal Dislocation of the Intermediate Cuneiform with a Medial Cuneiform Fracture: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Dorsal dislocation of the intermediate cuneiform and isolated medial cuneiform fractures are rare injuries. In this report, we present a patient who sustained a dislocation of the intermediate cuneiform and describe predisposing factors and the treatment procedure.
متن کاملAn additional middle cuneiform?
Additional cuneiform bones of the foot have been described in reference to the medial bipartite cuneiform or as small accessory ossicles. An additional middle cuneiform has not been previously documented. We present the case of a patient with an additional ossicle that has the appearance and location of an additional middle cuneiform. Recognizing such an anatomical anomaly is essential for ruli...
